Sandpaper Tees :)

Yet another craft found via Pinterest!

This one was soooooo super easy! Simply color a pic on sandpaper using crayons, then lay said sandpaper down on tee, and iron the back of the sandpaper to transfer the image. Doesn't get much easier than that! It was so easy I'm thinking bout making more here soon. But maybe I should let the kiddos pick the next craft... Or more accurately my boys, since my daughter is too cool for anything these days! Oh my we're entering teens years... Anyways, not much to say, so here's pics of our Sandpaper Tees:

Oldest son coloring on his piece of sandpaper.

Fun times!

mine and the lil boys' finished tees!

Couldn't wait to wear their tees!

oldest son's finished tee

Well that was our little craft we did the other day...

Other news, my oldest son will be turning 11yo tomorrow! I can't believe they're all getting so big so quickly! Gonna have a camp out party for him Sat. I sure hope some kids show! Sometimes for some reason none of the kids we invite from school show up... So irritating! Even when we did Chuck-E-Cheese only 2 came. Please oh please let at least one of his friends be able to make it!!!

Guess that's about it. Ta Ta!

The EX Strikes Again!

Ah, the idiot ex... Never fails at being an ass!

In case you don't already know, my ex and I don't get along. We're cordial enough, but deep down we don't like one another. No biggie! I don't like him, he doesn't like me... Unfortunately we've got a kid together so how we feel about the each other is of no importance. Heck, I admit freely the few nice things I can say about the man! He is a good father, he loves his son and spends time with him. Trust me, I've seen horrible dads who aren't there for their kids what so ever! Like my daughter's sperm donor, he's seen her probably less than 20x her whole life! He doesn't call or write! So, I give my ex props for being a good dad!

The idiot ex, on the other hand, seems to be blasting me for being a bad mother! Really? Ok, I know I've been down this road before.... Nothing new, he's got in stuck in his mind I'm the world's worst mom and he's dad of the year 11yrs running! I'm used to this, and really I don't care what his opinion of me is. I know I'm a great mom! Perfect? No, but I take good care of all my children. I'm the one that's pushed to have my son tested, first for speech, then ADHD, then dyslexia, and now for autism. I'm the one that picked his doc and dentist, I take him to 90% of his appointments. I get him to school, work with him on his reading. I have him do chores, but when he's done he's free to play. He plays with his toys, reads, plays video games, watches TV, plays outside.... Aren't those all normal kid activities??? I guess not, according to his dad!

Why am I bringing all this up? Well, today the ex gave me paperwork to turn into the school for son's autism testing. And YES I read what the idiot wrote! One of the questions asked was: Please formulate your own ideas about the suspected cause of your child's problems: (to which the idiot wrote-) based on what C says, his mom doesn't have time for him and he doesn't get to do all the things kids get to do. They also say bad things about me to him.

Ha! I'm with him most of the time! I spend time with all my kids ever single day except when they are staying the night somewhere else. No I don't get much quality one-on-one time with him, but I don't get that with any of them aside from the youngest because he doesn't go to school yet. He makes it sound like I lock my son in a cage or something! I'm really curious what he's not getting to do that other kids are doing?? Is my son in any extracurricular activities? Nope. Last time I had him involved in something it was Boy Scouts and his dad wouldn't hardly take him to the meetings and stuff if it happened on his weekends! Well, you bet I'm signing son up for something soon! And if his dad refuses to take him on his weekends... well, then he'll only have himself to blame and not me! Oh, and we spend time together as a family. I do crafts with the kids every once in a while, we go to parks, we go to movies, we like doing board games, we go for walks, and much more!

And about us talking bad about his father to him... Yea that doesn't happen. My hubs and I never talk bad about his dad to him, ever! Now, my other family members (namely my dad) doesn't quite know how to hold his tongue at times. It's not like I just sit there and let my son here my dad talk crap, no I say something to my dad about it and he shuts up. I'm a grown adult and I've done well at keeping my personal opinions of his father to myself or behind closed doors!

There was much of what he put on the paperwork that I happen to disagree with, like for instance when they asked about child misbehaving in school the idiot wrote: he has had his moments in the past, but nothing major... Oh really??? Currently, as long as my son is on his ADHD meds he's a fantastic student and all the teachers love him! But in the past? Let me paint you a picture shall I... Me getting yet another call to come pick up my son from school because he was throwing such a huge fit and they couldn't get him to calm down at all. Me (very very pregnant) go up to get him, I try to talk to him which doesn't work, I end up having to carry him kicking and screaming all the way to my car (this happened more than once), and once in the car I'd buckle him up then start driving, and that's when he'd get out of his seat and cover my eyes or just plain attack me! Oh yea, nothing major... All kids do that right?!

I swear, his dad made it out like my son is a perfect child as long as he's with him and the only reason he's not perfect for me is because I'm an awful parent! Well, as the horrible awful parent I am I just don't know what to do! I'm mean, since my son's issues are all my fault... I guess I don't push him to go out and socialize enough, even though I tell him nearly everyday to go out and play with his friends and I've let him go to sleepovers and I'm planning a camp out for him for his birthday coming up later this month. Or maybe it's these chores I have him do... Yep, making him do chores must be my downfall as a parent! Or is it that I put a roof over his head, have him shower daily, feed him at least 3x a day, keep him stocked with books and toys, have him go to school, and all those other awful awful things I do??? Or maybe it's because I get on to him when he acts up? What is it that makes me such a bad mom? Why oh why can't I be more like his super dad? I know, I should get rid of my other 3 kids and become the part-time parent! You know, that way I can party with my band and go out drinking and do whatever the fuck I want most of the time, and then a couple of weekends a month I could dedicate to bonding hardcore with my son! That's it! That way I could be a good parent like his dad!

Or I could continue being the good mom I already am! Because regardless of what the idiot ex says, I know the truth and the truth is I'm a good parent. I'm never going to be perfect, I'll never be as bonded to my son as his dad is.... I made the choice to have 4 kids and as much as I love and devote myself to each one of them I'm going to make mistakes. It's unfortunate I don't get tons of individual time with each of my kids, and perhaps I could squeeze in a bit more. But even with all my faults I'm still a great mom! Just really wish idiot ex would quit accusing me otherwise!

One things for certain, I didn't go blasting him when I filled out my paperwork for the school. The thought never even crossed my mind. I'm trying to get help for my son, and if all they went by was what my ex wrote they'd be hard pressed to see need for testing (he seriously describes him as being pretty much perfect and his only problem in life is having me for a mom). That's way frustrating when I know there's issues there my son needs help for! Why couldn't his dad see thesse papers as a way for us to help our son instead of an opprutunity to blast me and boast his parenting ablities?? Ugh!

Ok, well I'm through venting for the day! Ta Ta!

So, it's a funny story...

Late last night hubs and I took a "quick" trip to the closest Wally World (Walmart duh!) to get stuff for the kid's Easter baskets. Now, the closest store is a good 20min drive give or take. We get there, do our shopping, and head back home... All gravy so far!

Here comes the funny... Shortly after we'd turned on the back road heading home (about a 1/3 of the way into our trip back at that point) hubs exclaims "Oh shit!". I'm all like "What?!". Listen here men, don't just randomly say crap like that without following it with an explanation of sorts... Like so: "Oh shit! We're on empty!". Just saying, has nothing to do with the story, just putting that bit of info out there... Anyways... So, he tells me we're on E. I don't worry much about it, but little did I know the gas light had been on before we even left the house earlier. Hubs knew this, but not I! He knew we needed gas!! Needless to say, I'm sure you see where this tale is leading... Yep, we ran out of gas!!! My guess is a lil over halfway back home or round about...

Thus began our trek home... Me in flip-flops walking on the road in the dark. I'm just glad I'd brought a sweater with us, it was pretty chilly last night! It was nearing 11pm when we started our hike home. About 1 1/2 miles down the road some guy pulls up and asks if we need a ride. Hubs told him no thanks, we're pretty hesitant with strangers, even if they're small town folk. As the guy is pulling away hubs goes "Was that Chris?". Me, I don't know who he's talking about... I'm not good with remember people from school or way back when, but my husband has a knack for it. Not that we could actually see the dude at all, so hubs didn't think much about it.

Over 3miles into our journey, about 1hr after we ran out of gas... What do ya know! The same guy pulls up again! He's asks hubs "You David B?", hubs goes "Chris, I wondered if that was you!". Now that we know he's no stranger we feel safe to accept a ride home.. Thank goodness!!! I'd needed to go pee for at least 1/2 a mile by then! Funniest part of the whole thing, not only did they go to school together, but the guy is one of hubs Facebook friends! He went home, saw a post hubs wrote about us running out of gas, and then came back to get us! LOL! Ah Facebook... it CAN be useful at times!

BBB (our SUV) still had to be gotten! Once home we grabbed the gas tanks, hoped in hubs car, and headed to rescue her. There she was as we'd left her, locked up tight in a church parking lot we'd managed to coast her into before she completely died. Finally we were driving back home! That was the longest "quick" trip to the store ever!!! All ended well though! THE END.... Ta Ta!

Another Day, Another Field Trip for PreK

Seriously, I don't remember going on so many field trips when I was in prek! These kids go on some sorta field trip at least once a month I swear! Sometimes I'm not able to make it, but this time hubs and I both were in attendance. I think this is the funnest field trip I've had the pleasure of being a part of! They went to Wit's End Ranch  and it was awesome!

They got to pet some animals, saw tortoise races, play in this vast area with tons of fun things to do, did kiddie zip lines, ran through a maze, went on a hay ride, had a picnic, and ended the day with an egg hunt (it is almost Easter after all!). I'd totally recommend this place to anyone with kids! They also had a small adult zip line, but we missed out on it... I blame the hubs! Oh well, maybe next time! Hopefully there will be a next time, I'd so love to take the older kids there also!

Here's some pics of today's super fun field trip:

1st Monday Fun Day!

justa walkin!
Fried Snickers = prob a bazillion calories!
Even though we live so close to Canton, TX we hardly ever make it out to First Monday... That's too bad cause I love First Monday Trades Days! Today was an exception! We made up our minds earlier in March that we'd make it this time around and we did! Yay!

We were on a mission of sorts today. See, a while back I started thinking how I'd like a new family pet. I didn't want another cat (two is enough!), and another dog is out of the question right now (cause I'd go with a pup and I'm too busy potty training my youngest to deal with training a pup as well), I don't do spiders or snakes or other creepy

crawlies, hamsters and such are ok but I'd rather not, and so I decided on a bunny. I've owned one before, and although that didn't turn out so great (the poor thing froze to death :(  promise that won't happen with this one!) I enjoyed the fur ball! So our mission was to find a bunny. Now I had in mind a lop ear one or perhaps a long haired, but the cutie we found caught my eye and I feel in love!

No trip to 1st Monday is complete w/o lemonade!
Besides our hunt for rabbits we walked around, ate some good fair type food, picked up a trinket or two, and had an overall good time! I got two of these cool magnet bracelets (only $5, can't beat that!), a super cute carrier for Astrid (which we've been planning to get her one for some time), I also couldn't resist getting her a tutu (yes I got a tutu for my dog!), let the kiddos each pick out something for themselves, and of course made sure to grab a cage for our new family member... Not too shabby I'd say!
Astrid's new carrier!

It was pretty warm out, but not too bad. We kept hydrated and rested here and there. I definitely got my tan on today! Too bad the older kiddos had to miss out.... oh well, there's always next time! Now hubs is dropping off our niece and getting our daughter in the process, then it's off to Tyler to pick up my son! Perhaps a stop by Barnes & Noble to get a new charger for my NOOK??? Hope so! Alright, I'm out! Ta Ta!
meet the newest member to our family!
